On podcasting

May 9, 2021 | Thinking

I must admit, I didn’t get the hype about podcasting at all. I guess my approach towards creating content wasn’t quite there, back then.

I mean, podcasts always seemed to me like just another comms channel. Just another medium in the mix, something between blogging and YouTube, to be precise. No big deal. But some people really cracked this with content that brings the best from this medium.

So the entrance level right now is really low, one can produce relatively good quality even via mobile phone – truly democratising the medium. I’ve been into home recording for 20yrs now, so I know a little bit about this – particularly what type of effects to expect from which gear.

All this means that creativity and original ideas can shine through much easier now than any time in the past. It’s the content, purely what you have to say that makes the most difference. I think about this broadly, so the format, curation, guests, all that rolls into the content. Now if you sparkle some top-notch production on top of that, of course you can expect broadcast show quality.

Still, it’s the content and storytelling that makes a really good show, isn’t it?

While I’m working on some audio content myself, I also had the pleasure to co-host 2 episodes of Unit4’s own Inspiration4U podcast. Had great fun along the way, which makes me think there will be more to come, in one way or another 😉

Take a listen, if you dare!!
